Prefer meeting in a group first?
Slower Dating is the app: no photos, one message a day, slow conversations. Slower Dating Socials is something separate — public group meetups proposed by members, not organised by us.
A Social might be coffee, a pub evening, board games, a walk, a museum trip, a quiz night, or whatever else someone wants to put on. Within a few simple rules (public venue, clear organiser, respectful behaviour), the community decides.
We do not run a fixed calendar, and we do not guarantee a Social every month. When one comes together, it is simply a chance to say hello in person before you decide whether to keep chatting with anyone.
If you're talking with someone and not ready for a private coffee yet, a group Social (when one is announced) is a good middle step.
For now, this page is an interest list. Join below so you can hear when a Birmingham Social is happening.
How it works today
- Join the interest list (your name is not shown to other members)
- When a public group social is arranged, people on the list can be emailed
- Turn up if you want — buy your own drink, leave whenever you like
- No agenda, no pressure, and no need to meet anyone privately
You're welcome to bring a single friend, even if they're new to Slower Dating.
Make the most of the social
We encourage everyone to introduce themselves to as many people as they feel comfortable talking to.
Everyone is there for the same reason — to meet new people.
Don't worry about finding “the one”. Just enjoy the conversations.
Some people will speak to lots of people.
Some will only chat to one or two.
Both are completely fine.
If you enjoy talking with someone you can:
- continue chatting on Slower Dating
- exchange contact details if you both want to
- meet again another time
No pressure whatsoever.
Safety
- All socials are in public venues
- Be respectful — no harassment, no filming without permission
- Anyone behaving badly may be removed from the app and future socials
Joining the interest list does not show your name or profile to other members.
