Slower Dating Socials are for adults only (18 or over), including any guest you bring.
Slower Dating is the app: no photos, one message a day, slow conversations. Slower Dating Socials is something lighter and separate — optional group meetups when people want them.
Socials may include both in-person meetups and relaxed online group meetups through Microsoft Teams. Members can register their interest below, and events may be arranged when there is enough demand. There is no fixed calendar and no guaranteed regular schedule.
An in-person Social might be coffee, a pub evening, board games, a walk, or something similar in a public place. Online ones are simply a low-pressure way to say hello as a group.
If you're talking with someone and not ready for a private coffee yet, a group Social (when one is announced) can be a gentle middle step.
For now, this page is an interest list. Join below so you can hear when a Birmingham Social may be happening.
How it works today
- Join the interest list (your name is not shown to other members)
- When a group social is arranged, people on the list can be emailed
- Join if you want — leave whenever you like
- No agenda, no pressure, and no need to meet anyone privately
You're welcome to bring a single friend (18 or over), even if they're new to Slower Dating.
Make the most of the social
We encourage everyone to introduce themselves to as many people as they feel comfortable talking to.
Everyone is there for the same reason — to meet new people.
Don't worry about finding “the one”. Just enjoy the conversations.
Some people will speak to lots of people.
Some will only chat to one or two.
Both are completely fine.
If you enjoy talking with someone you can:
- continue chatting on Slower Dating
- exchange contact details if you both want to
- meet again another time
No pressure whatsoever.
Safety
- Adults only — everyone attending must be 18 or over
- In-person socials are in public venues; online ones use Microsoft Teams
- Be respectful — no harassment, no filming without permission
- Anyone behaving badly may be removed from the app and future socials
Joining the interest list does not show your name or profile to other members.
